Book: "Preservice Teacher' Perceptions of Content Area Literacy".
Abstract: This book has both practical and theoretical implications. It is a call to teacher candidates, licensed teachers and administrators to understand the importance of reading and writing strategies that enhance students' comprehension. When educators employ these reading strategies, students construct meaning through critical analysis. Students transfer these skills into real life situations. Research in this area has repeatedly shown that teachers' attitudes toward reading in the content areas are among the most important factors in student achievement from elementary through secondary education.
